Acrylic is an extremely useful material for applications that require transparency but do not require strong impact resistance. Because the material vaporizes upon collision with the focused laser light, it may be sliced into incredibly thin forms utilizing laser cutting technology. Acrylic thermoplastics are well-known for their weather resistance. They also have excellent impact strength, formability, and resilience to sunlight, temperature, and most chemicals. Standard grades of the sheet are slow-burning, but a self-extinguishing grade is available. Although acrylic plastic is half the weight of glass, it possesses several times the impact resistance. It is roughly 20% more effective than glass as a thermal insulator. It has no flavor or odor.
